PM Crop Insurance Scheme, farmers can get insurance till 31st August

Raipur. Keeping in view the convenience of the farmers, the date for getting Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana insurance has been extended. Non-loanee farmers will now be able to get insurance till August 14 and loanee farmers till August 31, 2025. Deputy Director of Agriculture, Rajnandgaon district, Tikam Singh Thakur has appealed to the farmers to get their crops insured soon by contacting the nearest Public Service Center, bank or committee.
Deputy Director of Agriculture, Rajnandgaon said that till now 1,065.81 hectares of crop insurance has been done in the district in the year 2025. He informed that a total of 1 lakh 17 thousand 866 farmers have got insurance under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the year 2024 in the district. These included 1 lakh 9 thousand 178 loanee farmers and 8 thousand 688 non-loanee farmers. During this period, a total of 1 lakh 43 thousand 465.56 hectares of area was insured. Based on the yield data received after harvesting, a total amount of Rs 6 crore 21 lakh 19 thousand 101 was transferred directly to the bank accounts of 2,733 farmers.
Similarly, in Rabi year 2024-25, a total of 31 thousand 634 farmers got insurance, including 19 thousand 473 loanee farmers and 12 thousand 161 non-loanee farmers. During this period, 39 thousand 431.58 hectares of area was insured. According to the data after harvesting, claim calculation of Rs 33 crore 23 lakh 21 thousand 247 has been completed for 20 thousand 380 farmers, which will be paid through DG Claim Portal. It is worth noting that agricultural production is being secured and strengthened by providing crop insurance to farmers at affordable rates through PM Crop Insurance. The scheme provides comprehensive protection cover to farmers’ crops from all non-preventable natural risks, from sowing to post-harvest stage, based on area approach.
