Playing near pond turns tragic! Two minor sisters die after drowning in Odisha

Bhadrak: Playing near pond turned tragic for two minor sisters as they died reportedly after drowning in the pond at Krushnapur village in Bhadrak district of Odisha on Thursday.
The two siblings, identified as Chandini (5) and Nandini (4), the daughters of Ratan Mandal of Karanapali village had reportedly gone to his father-in-law’s house at Krushnapur village on a visit.
Booth Chandini and Nandini were playing near the pond, which is situated close to their uncle’s house at Krushnapur village. However, accidentally they fell in the pond and drowned at around 1 PM today.
After not finding the girls, the family members launched a frantic search for them. They reached all possible locations to trace them, but in vain.
Later, some villagers noticed Chandini and Nandini floating in the pond and informed the family members. Soon, they rescued the minor siblings in a critical condition and rushed them to Basudevpur Community Health Centre (CHC). But the doctor declared both of them dead on arrival.
Speaking about the incident, Medical Officer Dr. Bidyasabitru Nayak said, “We received both the girls in an unconscious state. On inspection, we found both of them dead, following which we informed the police about it. Though the family members are claiming that, the girls died after drowning in the pond, the exact cause and time of their deaths will be known only after postmortem.”
