PHILLAUR: MLA Vikramjit Singh Choudhary along with administrative officials and locals visited Mau Sahib, Lasara and Kadiyana villages on Tuesday. In view of the possibility of heavy rains due to changing weather conditions, he held in-depth discussions with the administrative officials to deal with the possible challenges during floods. Choudhary stressed the importance of ensuring safety of dams and protection of nearby villages. During the visit, the administrative officials highlighted the fact that Rs 18 lakh has been allocated and utilized under Phagwara Drainage Sub-Division of Phillaur to strengthen the dams along the Sutlej.
These preventive measures are aimed at reducing the risk of floods in the nearby areas. Choudhary assured the public that all flood prevention efforts have been successfully completed. He expressed confidence that the farmers and residents of the villages near the river will not face any difficulty. The MLA was accompanied by Phillaur Naib Tehsildar Sunita Rani, Kanungo Sandeep Kumar, SDO Drainage Alok Modi. On this occasion, President of Depot Union Phillaur Lala Kishan Bathla, President of Block Committee Phillaur Davinder Singh, former Vice President of Municipal Council Phillaur Ashwani Kumar Ashu and others were present.
