Phagwara: Jalandhar (rural) police conducted a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Nakodar subdivision. During the operation, police seized 154 grams of heroin, 55.500 kg poppy husk, 6,750 ml illicit liquor, 100 intoxicant pills and an electronic weighing machine. District police arrested nine persons and registered 11 FIRs during Operation Eagle 4. The entire operation was monitored by DIG (Jalandhar range) Rajpal Singh Sindhu.
Police teams led by SSP Ankur Gupta and SPs and DSPs conducted search operations in 10 drug-affected villages. Police also interrogated 81 suspects in the district. SSP Ankur Gupta said the aim of the search operation was to nab people involved in drug trafficking. The SSP said that the police have recovered 50.500 kg of poppy husk from Gurmeet Singh alias Gorkha, resident of village Dharme Diyan Chhana under Mehatpur police station in Ludhiana and Sandeep Singh alias Sonu, resident of village Kul Gehna under Shidhama Bet police station. They also recovered five kg of poppy husk from Gurpreet Singh, resident of village Vehran under Mehatpur police station. He said that the police have recovered nine grams of heroin from Muskan, resident of Malari village and 100 intoxicant pills from Lakhvir alias Lucky of the same village. They also recovered nine bottles of illicit liquor from Lakhwinder Kaur, resident of village Bakar Dhan Chhana under Mehatpur police station.
