Phagwara: 6 arrested for firing at farmer

Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested six miscreants for firing at a farmer in a village. Investigating officer Jagjit Singh said that the accused have been identified as Gurwinder Singh alias Sunni, resident of Hambra of Lado Wal police station in Ludhiana, Sarabjit Singh and Resham Singh, both residents of Sarahali Kalan village in Tarn Taran, Gagandeep Singh, resident of Sohawa village of Sarahali Kalan police station, Baldev Singh, resident of Thattha village of Sarahali Kalan police station and Baljit Singh, resident of Noordi in Tarn Taran.

Resham Singh told the police in his complaint that he was going to the fields on a tractor to bring paddy seedlings on the morning of July 8, when the accused on a motorcycle stopped him and threatened him and fired a shot from a pistol. The bullet hit his left thigh. The investigating officer said that a case has been registered against the unknown accused under sections 109 and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
