Petition filed in HC against CM office over leak of personal information of employees

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Thiruvananthapuram: A petition has been filed in the High Court against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office, alleging misuse of government employees’ personal information. Secretariat official Anil Kumar and others have approached the High Court. The petition states that the officials’ WhatsApp numbers were collected for political purposes. The petition will be considered tomorrow.

The petition has been filed by making the Chief Minister an opposition party. Over the past few days, approximately five lakh employees received messages from the Chief Minister’s office regarding welfare activities in the state. The controversy was that the Chief Minister’s message was sent to employees’ WhatsApp numbers after the order to grant 10% DA was issued. Opposition service organizations in Kerala allege that sending group messages to employees’ private phone numbers confirms a data leak from the SPARK (Service and Payroll Administrative Repository for Kerala) system, violating employees’ privacy. The Chief Minister’s message addressed employees by name. The message was that the promises made in the last budget are being fulfilled one by one, and this government is always there to protect the well-being of the employees and their rights, and this care will continue in the days to come.
