Durg. Due to maintenance in Bhilai township in Durg district, there was power failure in several sectors for 5-6 hours on Monday evening. People kept getting upset in the scorching heat. Most of the people went out for a walk after locking their houses to avoid the heat. When electricity came between 12-1 in the night, people returned to their homes.
A young man living in Risali sector told that the lights of the entire township went off since around 7 pm. On enquiry, it was told that a jumper had blown up from the Bhilai Steel Plant. Due to this the power supply of the township has stopped. Maintenance work is going on. As soon as people were told that it would take around 4-5 hours. People locked their houses and went out for a walk.
Some went towards the Shivnath river fort, some went to the mall and a large number of people went for a walk in the park and market of the sector. When the lights of some sectors came on between 12.30 to 1 in the night, people returned to their homes. People said that it was a matter of luck that the lights were not cut in the night. If this happened late in the night, then they would not be able to sleep properly.
