Hyderabad (IANS) | Amid continuing tussle with the Telangana government, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday said the people are with him. He declined to comment on whether the state government has invited him for the Telangana Foundation Day celebrations.
“I am not going to comment on whether the invitation was given or not,” she told media persons. I am with the people of Telangana and the people of Telangana are also with me. I celebrated with him. That’s all I can say.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao unfurled the national flag at the main foundation day function held at the newly built state secretariat.
The Governor had earlier complained that he had to attend the inauguration of the Secretariat and Dr. B.R. Not invited for many important events including unveiling of 125 feet statue of Ambedkar.
Tamilisai said he invited those who had fought for Telangana in 1969. I celebrated the Foundation Day with him and I am proud to honor him, he said.
Asked about Chief Minister KCR’s recent remark that the post of governor is only decorative, he said, “Today’s celebration is the answer.” My doors are always open for people.
Tamilisai said she was overwhelmed by the support and love and affection of the people. He said that it filled his heart with joy to see the cultural programs showcasing the pride of Telangana.
Tamilisai, who is also the lieutenant governor of Puducherry, later left for the union territory. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested that State Formation Day should be celebrated in all the states.
He gave his speech in Telugu at the program organized at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad. He said that the movement for Telangana has a special place. People of all classes participated in it. He said that it was a non-violent movement, people had sacrificed their lives for Telangana.
