Cuttack: Patients and their attendants are having a horrific time at Odisha’s premier SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as two computed tomography (CT) scan machines have reportedly become dysfunctional since a long period of time.
According to reports, as two of the three CT scan machines of the major government-run hospital have become dysfunctional, the poor patients and their attendance have to go to the Radiotherapy Department and wait for several hours and even for some days for the CT scan. Even some of them are forced to go to do outside and do the CT scan at the private hospitals or diagnostics.
Sources said that on a regular basis a total of 200 CT scans are required to be done at the SCB Hospital. While only 30-40 tests has to be done at a single CT scan machine per day, more number of tests are being done in the single machine due to which sometimes it also become dysfunctional, added the sources.
Meanwhile, the patients and their attendants demanded to repair the CT scan machines.
On the other hand, Dr Sudhanshu Shekhar Mishra, the Superintendent of Hospital informed that they have apprised the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) about the matter and sought some new CT scan machines. Though, we are yet to get the machines but making all possible arrangement for the critical and emergency cases by sending them to the Radiodiagnosis department for the CT scan, he said.
