Punjab: Six inmates were injured in a clash inside Patiala Central Jail on Wednesday. Two inmates have been admitted to Government Rajindra Hospital with serious injuries. The inmates undergoing treatment at the hospital have been identified as Somvir and Bunty, who belong to rival factions. Four other inmates also suffered minor injuries, sources said. A senior jail official said they were investigating the matter.
Head constable suspended
Muktsar: Police on Sunday suspended head constable Jagmeet Singh for allegedly misbehaving with a journalist. Several social organisations came out in support of the journalist and blocked the road outside Muktsar (city) police station on Wednesday. The protesters lifted the blockade after SP (headquarters) Kanwalpreet Chahal announced that Jagmeet had been suspended.

Woman hit by train
Fazilka: A woman was hit by a train while crossing the railway track in Fazilka on Wednesday. Sources said the deceased Reshma was returning home after buying milk. Reshma’s daughter-in-law Pinky said her mother-in-law had gone to fetch milk from across the railway track. She did not see the train while returning.
Teachers demand pay hike
Muktsar: Teachers of Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology have been staging a one-hour protest since Monday against the non-implementation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. “Teachers of all government technical universities and colleges demand immediate implementation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission,” they said.
