Team India has defeated Great Britain in the quarterfinal match of the Men’s Hockey event in the ongoing Paris Olympic.
The winner of the match was decided via shoot-off after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. Team India defeated Great Britain in penalties with the score line of 4-2.
India played for most of 3 quarters with 10 men as Amit Rohidas was given a red card. Harmanpreet Singh had given India the lead in the 22nd minute before Lee Morton equalised the scores.
Right after they had seen Amit Rohidas red carded for a stick in a GB player’s face, India took a 1-0 lead in the game. But the Great Britain team scored with half-time in sight to level at 1-1. The score stayed 1-1 till the end of the 60 minutes. For India, it was captain Harmanpreet Singh who scored from the penalty corner, his seventh goal at Paris 2024.
With this win, India has entered into the semifinals. There are three quarterfinals matches schedule today. First between Belgium and Spain at 4 pm, followed by Netherlands vs Australia at 9 pm and Germany vs Argentina at 11.30 pm.
