Three friends died after being run over under suspicious circumstances in Dikadla village, Samalkha, late Wednesday evening. It is reported that the accused attempted to stage the incident to make it look like an accident.
However, the Samalkha police have registered a case against nine individuals for the alleged murder of the three friends. It is alleged that they were run over and killed due to an old enmity; the attackers suspected that one of the victims had lodged a complaint against them regarding illegal mining.
The deceased have been identified as Vinod (48), Narendra (46), and Anip (36) from Dikadla village. The accused fled the scene after committing the crime.
In his complaint to the Samalkha police, Virendra Gahlayan—brother of the deceased Narendra—stated that he was at a private hospital in Samalkha when he received a call from Saket, a fellow villager, informing him about the incident.
He further stated that the three men were in critical condition and were being taken to a major hospital in Panipat. He mentioned that his brother Narendra was conscious but had sustained an injury to his forehead. Narendra revealed that Manish, Sandeep, Ravinder, Naveen, Tushar, Sachin, Neeraj, and Rajbir (alias Raja) from Dikadla village, along with Suraj from Atta village, had attempted to kill them by ramming their vehicle into them due to a long-standing feud.
Narendra explained that the Mining Department had previously seized Manish’s trolley and dumper on charges of illegal mining. Manish suspected Narendra of being behind this and had even threatened him.
Virendra stated that Narendra had returned from Haridwar that evening and subsequently went for a walk towards the fields with his two friends, Vinod and Anip, late Wednesday evening. While they were returning on Vinod’s scooter, Manish and his associates rammed their black Scorpio into them from behind. They fell onto the road, after which the accused attacked them and fled the scene. Virendra further stated that he took the three of them to a private hospital in Panipat, where doctors advised him to go to the Civil Hospital; there, all three were declared dead. He alleged that the accused had murdered them. Upon receiving the complaint, the Samalkha police registered a case against nine individuals—Manish, Sandeep, Ravinder, Naveen, Tushar, Sachin, Neeraj, and Rajbir from Dikadla village, and Suraj from Atta village—under Sections 103(1), 190, 191(3), and 61 of the BNS, and initiated an investigation.
Samalkha SHO SI Deepak Kumar stated that the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families on Thursday following the post-mortem examination.
He noted that a murder case has been registered against the nine individuals. The SHO added that none of the accused have been arrested yet, as they are all absconding. The vehicle used in the incident has been seized; the SHO mentioned that the accused had abandoned the vehicle at a different location before fleeing.
