Pandian said- Odisha government will struggle to get district status for Padampur

Bhubaneswar: 5T president and BJD leader VK Pandian on Wednesday announced that the state government will fight at all levels to declare Padampur as a separate district as promised by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Addressing an election rally in Padampur, Pandian said the government has issued notification for the creation of the new district and land has also been identified for the construction of the collector’s office. But critics trying to deprive people of the benefits of the new district by going to court will not succeed in their endeavour, he said. He said, “The state government will fight at every level to declare Padampur as a separate district.”

Pandian said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had promised to connect Padampur with train service. “You ask them where the railway junction is and whether the site for the railway station has been identified,” he said.
Criticizing the Union Minister for not fulfilling the promises made to Padampur, Pandian said the Union Minister had promised to simplify the process of crop insurance but he did nothing for the farmers. He said that the Chief Minister had written to the Center several times to waive GST on Kendu leaves but the Center did not pay heed to his request. The 5T president said, finally, the state government waived GST on kendu leaves.

Pandian said the opposition wants to stop the renovation of the Samleshwari temple and has gone to the Supreme Court on the issue. He filed the case through a poor man and it costs lakhs of rupees to fight a case in the apex court. He wondered who provided the money to the poor man to fight the case in the apex court.
The Chief Minister went to the Supreme Court and won the case after which the Samleshwari temple was renovated, he said, adding that the opposition also tried to obstruct the Srimandir Parikrama project but did not succeed.
