Panchkula News: 54 roads will be recarpeted

Panchkula: The Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA) is going to renovate 54 roads in the city at a cost of Rs 41.87 crore. The office has completed recarpeting of two roads, while work on others is in progress. Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta chaired a meeting with PMDA officials regarding the recarpeting work. “The office will also soon develop a shooting range on 13.75 acres of land in Sector 32,” an official said. The PMDA has received approval to carry out works worth Rs 18.64 crore. Apart from this, estimates for works worth Rs 23.23 crore have also been prepared. The department has allotted tenders for 11 roads and started work for 12 others. A new bridge over Ghaggar is being constructed by the PMDA at a cost of Rs 25 crore to connect Sector 23 and Sectors 3 and 21, officials said. The office has issued tenders for the work. CEO KM Pandurang said the department will allot the work of construction of the overbridge to the construction agency. He said the PMDA will also construct a second lane from the dumping ground to NH-7. He said the office has started identifying land for the project. The office has also issued a tender for construction of PMDA office complex in Sector 3. The tender will be opened on July 1. The meeting also discussed setting up of STPs for tertiary water supply in MDC area, sectors 1 to 21, industrial area phases 1 and 2 and expansion areas of the city. CEO KM Pandurang said two new MLD plants will be set up in Sector 5 and MDC Sector 7 at a cost of Rs 20 crore. He said another project worth Rs 25 crore is being prepared to upgrade the STP plant installed in Sector 28 from 15 MLD capacity to 30 MLD capacity.
