Cuttack: Orissa High Court Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh pledged to donate his organs while attending a special event held in Cuttack City to observe the Indian Organ Donation Day (IODD).
The Chief Justice today expressed his willingness to donate organs while attending as the Chief Guest of the concluding ceremony of a three-day event conducted at the SCB Medical College and Hospital for organ donation. On this occasion, he also signed the pledge certificate in the presence of several dignitaries.
With this, the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court has set an example for others to come forward and donate their organs so that others will get new lives.
Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Vice Chancellor of Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) Prof. (Dr) Manash Ranjan Sahoo, SCB Medical Superintendent Sudhansu Mishra and others were part of the Indian Organ Donation Day celebration.
Speaking on this occasion, the OUHS Vice Chancellor announced that the subject of organ donation and transplantation will be included in the syllabus of the MBBS students from next year.
The Health Minister informed that the State government will make arrangements for transplantation of the organs at government hospitals.
On this occasion, the family members of the organ donors were felicitated while the winners of different competition conducted during the three-day event were given prizes.
