It should be known that Congress has been able to get the post of Leader of Opposition after ten years. Because in 2014 and 2019, Congress did not have enough MPs to get the post of Leader of Opposition. Because the rule is that at least 10 percent of the total number of MPs should be with your party. This time Congress with 99 MPs reached this mark. For this reason, Congress could take the post of Leader of Opposition after ten years. Now that Rahul Gandhi is becoming the leader of opposition, he will become a part of the committee that appoints the CBI director, Central Vigilance Commissioner, Chief Information Commissioner, ‘Lokpal’ or Lokayukta, Chairperson and members of National Human Rights Commission and Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners of Election Commission of India. In all these appointments, Rahul Gandhi as the leader of opposition will sit on the same table where Prime Minister Modi will sit and this will be the first time when in these decisions, Prime Minister Modi will have to take consent from Rahul Gandhi as the leader of opposition.
Rahul Gandhi will be able to review economic decisions
After Rahul Gandhi becomes the leader of opposition, he will be able to continuously review the economic decisions of the government and will also be able to comment on the decisions of the government. Rahul Gandhi will also become the head of the ‘Public Accounts’ committee, which examines all the expenses of the government. And also comments after reviewing them.

After becoming the Leader of Opposition, as per the Leaders of Opposition in Parliament Act 1977, the rights and facilities of the Leader of Opposition are exactly like those of a Cabinet Minister. Now, as the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi will get an office in the Government Secretariat like a Cabinet Minister. He will get high level security as per the rank of a Cabinet Minister. And he will get Rs 3 lakh 30 thousand as monthly salary and other allowances, which will be much more than the salary of an MP. An MP gets about Rs 2.25 lakh every month including salary and other allowances. Rahul Gandhi will get a government bungalow like the Cabinet Ministers get and he will also get free air travel, rail travel, government car and other facilities and the biggest thing is that Rahul Gandhi will join the main committees of Parliament as the Leader of Opposition and he will have the right to continuously review the work of the government.
