Jalandhar: 4 grams of heroin, 305 intoxicant tablets, stolen mobile phones, 27,000 ml of illicit liquor and 30 kg of lahan were recovered during Operation Eagle-5 launched by Jalandhar Rural Police against drug peddlers here today. Four FIRs were registered and three persons were arrested during the operation. Keeping in view the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP to eliminate drug peddling and related crimes, the operation was conducted from 10 am to 2 pm today. It involved extensive searches of drug hotspots. Led by Jalandhar Range DIG Naveen Singla and Jalandhar Rural SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, the operation was aimed at combing areas known for drug activities. Advanced technology was used to enhance detection and seizure efforts. Khakh said that the aim of Operation Eagle-5 is to root out the drug menace. 12 police parties were deployed, 40 check-points were set up and 12 hotspots were checked. During the operation, 106 suspicious persons were searched, four FIRs were registered and three persons were arrested. The recoveries include 4 grams of heroin, 305 bullets, stolen mobile phones, 27,000 ml of illicit liquor and 30 kg lahan. A contingent of 120 policemen led by Manpreet Singh, SP, Special Branch; Manjit Kaur, SP, PBI; Swarnjit Singh, DSP, Phillaur; Kulwinder Singh, DSP, Nakodar; Sumit Sood, DSP, Adampur and Vijay Kanwarpal, DSP, Shahkot, SHO and extensive supporting staff were deployed. During the stringent searches, several suspicious persons and activities were identified and checked. Vehicles were checked at major nakas, ensuring thorough inspection and verification. SSP Khakh highlighted the vital role of public cooperation in the success of such operations and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities. HOSHIARPUR: Police checked 148 persons during the operation and arrested four and registered a case against them. During this period, police seized 300 bottles of smuggled beer and over 500 bottles of liquor. Besides, 104 grams of heroin and 150 grams of narcotic powder were also recovered.
