Only 8 percent of the budget is allocated to education sector: SFI

SFI Sangareddy District President T Rajesh said that the Telangana State Congress government has allocated only 8.22% funds for the education sector in the Finance Department budget for the year 2026-27 presented in the Assembly. On Sunday, under the auspices of the SFI Zaheerabad Division Committee, copies of the budget presented by the state government under the auspices of the Sangareddy District SFI Committee were burnt in the premises of the Zaheerabad MRO office.

Speaking on this occasion, T Rajesh said that there are many problems in the education sector across the state. He said that scholarship fee reimbursements worth about 8 thousand crores are pending in this state. Compared to this, there are many problems in the education sector. Gurukuls do not have their own buildings, SMH hostels do not have their own buildings, and government universities in the state are in serious trouble due to lack of proper infrastructure. Considering all these problems, the state government has allocated a total of 26,674 crores for the education sector for the year 2026-27.

He said that the Telangana State Congress government will not be able to solve the education sector problems in the state with such a low budget. He said that the student unions, intellectuals and students in the state have been saying for the last two years that if the education sector problems in the state are to be solved, 30 percent funds should be allocated to the education sector, but the Congress government has not paid attention. Even now, Telangana State Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the Congress government should think about it and instead of looking down on the education sector, allocate 30% funds and move forward in a way that solves the education sector problems in the state. Otherwise, he warned that large-scale movements will be held under the auspices of student unions across the state. SFI Division Secretary Sandeep, Division leaders Abhi, Pawan, Krishna, Harish, Ajay, Naresh and others participated in this program.
