One arrested for stalking women in Ludhiana

New Delhi (IANS) | Based on a complaint by a woman in the national capital, a 25-year-old man has been arrested in Ludhiana for stalking women and posting photoshopped pictures of his victims online. A Delhi Police officer gave this information on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Kuldeep. The officer said that he created a social media profile in the name of a woman and used to request others to befriend them and later posted morphed pictures to harass them.

According to the police, a 24-year-old woman from Delhi alleged that on March 15, she received a friend request from an Instagram ID named Simran.

Jitendra Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) said, he accepted the friend request as many were mutual friends. After some time, she came to know that the said Instagram account had used her picture as a display image and posted her edited/morphed objectionable pictures and objectionable comments on Instagram.

The accused made a collage using the photograph of the complainant along with the photograph of another woman.

The DCP said, allegedly to harass the complainant, he started inducing undue advantage through Instagram and WhatsApp messages/calls. The alleged unknown person started stalking her online and molesting her through Instagram, WhatsApp messages and calls.

During investigation, on the basis of technical surveillance, the suspect was apprehended at a place in Ludhiana.

Kuldeep was arrested and during interrogation he confessed to his involvement in the case and recovered a mobile phone used in the crime, the DCP said.

Further efforts are on to ascertain the possible involvement of the accused in other cases as well, the DCP said.
