Odisha: Another shocking incident has come to light. A young man was brutally murdered by unknown assailants in the Odagaon area of the state’s Nayagarh district. Both of the deceased’s hands were severed, spreading terror in the area. The deceased has been identified as Ajit Kumar Sahu.
The incident occurred early Monday morning in Kadlibandha village, about 2 kilometers from the Odagaon police station. When locals arrived at the roadside in the morning, they saw the blood-soaked body and immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
According to police sources, the incident may be linked to a dispute over stone mining. According to reports, at around 1 a.m., Ajit Kumar Sahu and another young man, Santosh Kumar Pradhan, tried to stop two stone-laden vehicles in the area. They were allegedly attacked by members of a stone mafia gang.
The attackers brutally attacked Ajit using sharp-edged weapons and severed both his hands. He was then killed on the spot. Santosh Kumar Pradhan, meanwhile, managed to escape and hid in a nearby dhaba to save his life.
Following the attack, the accused fled the scene. As news of the incident spread, tension gripped the area. Angry locals and the deceased’s family members protested by placing the body on the road, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.
The protest also disrupted traffic in the area for some time. People say strict action should be taken against illegal stone trade and mafia activities in the area to prevent such incidents.
Upon receiving information, police and a scientific team arrived at the scene. The team collected evidence from the scene and sent the body for post-mortem. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation, and raids are underway to find the accused.
Earlier, a young man was murdered in Balianta, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, shocking the entire state. The continued occurrence of such incidents has raised questions about law and order.
Currently, police say they are investigating the case from every angle and are attempting to arrest the accused soon.
