Odisha: In Odisha’s Cuttack district, a truck carrying liquor met with an accident on National Highway (NH)-55 today, after which villagers allegedly looted the alcohol.
The truck reportedly fell into a ditch near Kushpangi in Choudwar after the driver lost control of the vehicle. However, no one was injured in the incident.
According to reports, immediately after the accident, local villagers rushed to the spot and took away bottles of liquor from the overturned truck. Upon receiving information, Choudwar police arrived at the scene and seized the remaining liquor bottles before beginning an investigation into the incident.
Reports suggest that authorities had dug a ditch along the NH to begin construction work on a drainage project. However, they had not placed any signboards at the site to warn drivers about the ongoing drainage work.
The vehicle owner said, “The truck loaded with liquor met with an accident because the driver was unaware of the ditch dug near the NH.”
