Odisha: Tribal people dance and sing in protest against lack of roads

Keonjhar: Hundreds of tribals in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Tuesday sang songs in their dialect and danced with traditional instruments to draw the attention of authorities to the lack of metalled roads and power supply in their village. According to reports, over 500 tribals from Juang community of Godinarda village under Telkoi block of the district gathered in front of the Collector office in the town. Instead of demonstrating or raising slogans, they sang songs in the Juang dialect and danced to the tune of ‘Changu’, a tribal musical instrument. The tribals allege that due to lack of concrete road to their village, ambulances are not able to reach there. They have to carry patients, pregnant women and injured persons in slings or cots and walk 5 km to Panga village to reach the ambulance. Similarly, Godinarda also remains in darkness as they have not been provided with electricity supply till date.
