Bhubaneswar: The Odisha SRC (Special Relief Commissioner) has issued an alert to collectors of 14 districts for heavy rain due to the low pressure over Bay of Bengal. The Collectors of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul.
The SRC has asked the Collectors to review the preparedness measures at the district level for flood like situation in these 14 districts.
The letter issued to the Collectors of 14 districts reads as follows, “I am to say that under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, a Low Pressure Area has formed over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Coastal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal.”
Further the alert read, “Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west north-west wards across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand during next 2 days.”
“Under its impact there may be heavy rain and flood like situation in the north Odisha. It is, therefore, requested to review the preparedness at the district level, take appropriate action and intimate the situation of the district from time to time, ” the letter of the SRC alerted the Collectors.
