Odisha shivered at 7.4 degrees Celsius

Bhubaneswar: Amid a slight drop in night temperatures across Odisha, G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state in the last 24 hours, recording a minimum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center said on Sunday.

The weather agency further said that ten places recorded temperatures of 12 degrees Celsius and below. Apart from G Udayagiri, the temperature in Daringbadi and Phulbani of Kandhamal district was recorded at 8.5 degrees and 9.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

The minimum (night) temperature in Koraput was 8 degrees Celsius, while it was 9.9 degrees Celsius in Semiliguda in the district, 11.5 degrees in Nabarangpur, 11.77 degrees Celsius in Kirei in Sundergarh district and 12 degrees Celsius in Keonjhar, Angul. Bhawanipatna.

The mercury in the state capital also dropped below 15 degrees Celsius, which is 0.6 degrees below normal. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded temperatures of 14.4 and 15.4 degrees Celsius respectively.

Dense fog blanketed Rourkela and Phulbani this morning, reducing visibility to 50-200 metres. Light to moderate fog was observed in Paradip, Jharsuguda, Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar.

The weather center has said that dense fog is expected at many places in the state during the next 3 days. Light to moderate fog is also likely at a few places over Coastal Odisha, South Interior Odisha and one or two places over the remaining places in the state.
