Odisha records 393 new Covid cases, masks mandatory in hospitals

Bhubaneswar (IANS) | During the last 24 hours, 393 new cases of Kovid-19 have been reported in Odisha on Tuesday, taking the total number of active cases to 3086.

According to the state health department, the government tested 5,421 samples on Monday, of which 393 were positive.

The new cases have been reported from 24 out of 30 districts of Odisha. Sundergarh district reported the maximum number of 125 new cases, followed by Sambalpur (71), Cuttack (65), Mayurbhanj (28), Khurda (27) and Bolangir (21). Single digit cases have been reported in 18 out of 24 districts.

On Sunday, 502 cases of corona were reported in the state.

Meanwhile, the state government has made it mandatory to wear face masks in all health institutions and closed-door gathering places.

In an official order, the Directorate of Public Health of Odisha has decided to make wearing of masks mandatory by the staff in health institutions.

The order mandated masks for all healthcare service providers during duty hours, all officers present in meetings and others, especially during gatherings of people in closed rooms.

In addition, masks are mandatory for people visiting areas with high transmission potential and for individuals with influenza-like illness.
