Odisha: A 13-year-old girl was raped and impregnated by a relative in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The incident occurred in the Baisinga area of Mayurbhanj. Police have arrested the accused and launched an investigation.
According to reports, the accused, who is approximately 28 years old, is a distant relative of the minor girl. The minor girl used to visit the accused’s house and help his ailing mother with household chores.
The accused raped the minor girl in his home approximately six months ago and threatened her not to tell anyone about it.
However, the incident came to light when a recent medical examination revealed the victim was pregnant. Later, she told her family about the sexual assault.
The victim’s family filed a complaint with the Baisinga police. According to reports, police registered a case under various sections of the BNS and POCSO Acts and arrested the accused. Baisinga Police IIC Barini Das said, “We have registered a case based on the complaint from the victim’s family and arrested the accused. The accused will be produced before the POCSO court in Baripada tomorrow after a medical examination.”
