Odisha: Heavy rain and hailstorm warning

Odisha: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning for Odisha over the next two days. The department predicts heavy rain and hailstorms in several districts of the state, potentially disrupting normal life.
According to the IMD’s forecast, heavy rain and hailstorms are expected in parts of Kandhamal, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore districts on Monday, June 1st. The weather department has warned that the weather in these areas may suddenly deteriorate, with lightning strikes possible.
Given the severity of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for Kandhamal and Gajapati districts. A red alert means that these areas may experience extremely severe weather conditions, increasing the risk of loss of life and property. An orange alert has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore districts, advising people to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel.
The weather bulletin issued by the IMD’s regional center stated that the weather is unlikely to improve on Tuesday, June 2nd. Heavy rain and hailstorms are likely at isolated locations in Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Kandhamal districts. The department also stated that strong winds and lightning are also possible during this period.
The Meteorological Department has advised local administrations to remain vigilant and make necessary preparations to deal with emergencies. Farmers have also been asked to take necessary steps to protect their crops, as hailstorms are likely to cause damage to the agricultural sector.
The public has also been urged to stay away from open spaces and seek shelter during bad weather. People living in hilly and rural areas have been advised to exercise increased caution.
The state administration has also instructed disaster management teams in the respective districts to be prepared following the Meteorological Department’s warning. Relief and rescue teams have been put on alert to respond immediately to any emergency.
In view of this weather warning, there is an atmosphere of anxiety in many parts of Odisha, and the administration is continuously monitoring the situation.
