Odisha: The state government has appealed to its employees, as well as those working in private organizations, to wear handloom clothing as part of the ongoing “Odia Pakhya” celebrations in Odisha on April 2 and 3. Employees have been urged to wear traditional clothing to celebrate the “Ama Posaka Ama Parichay” initiative of the state government’s Handloom, Textile, and Handicrafts Department.
A communication in this regard has been sent to all departments and district collectors.
The Handloom, Textile, and Handicrafts Department stated in the letter, “Handloom products are part of our cultural heritage. Employees of the state government, private organizations, and the general public are urged to wear handloom clothing and participate in the Ama Posaka Ama Parichay campaign.”
Discounts at Boyanika Outlets
In addition, employees have been urged to upload their selfies wearing handloom clothing to the official Odia Pakhya website (odiapakhya.com).
To promote handloom products among the public, all outlets of Boyanika, Utkalika, Resham Odisha, and Sambalpuri Vastralaya are offering discounts of up to 30 percent (20% + 10%) to buyers. The department stated that these discounts will continue until April 14.
The state government is celebrating Odia Pakhya, a 14-day cultural festival, across the state from April 1 to 14, to reconnect people with Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and traditions.
