Odisha government to shut down dance bars completely, crackdown on illegal liquor business

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government shall shut down dance bars completely and there shall be a crackdown on illegal liquor business in the state. The announcement in this regard was made by Prithiraj Harichandan the State Excise Minister.

According to reports, the dance bars will be closed down completely. There will be no liquor shops near schools, colleges and temples, the Minister further clarified. He said that if they are there, they will be at a specified distance.

The Government further said that, there will be a crackdown on the illegal liquor business and all such network shall be closed down within a year.

“The previous government had allowed illegal liquor trade, we will never allow it. A new policy will come into force, the illegal liquor trade network will be completely destroyed,” the Excise Minister further clarified.

The illegal liquor shops on Government land will be bulldozed. Illegal liquor trade will be completely stopped within a year, he further specifically said. Further detailed reports awaited in this matter.
