Odisha government adopts AI in farming to increase farmers’ profits

Odisha: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture, saying it will help farmers maximize profits by providing them with advanced crop information.

Speaking at Lok Seva Bhavan, Singhdeo thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for increasing the budget for agriculture and allied sectors by 12.3 percent. He said the government’s commitment is clear: to increase farmers’ income through technology-driven solutions.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav and Director of Agriculture Shubham Saxena attended the meeting, where new tools were showcased. Krishivas presented a smartphone-based app that can monitor crops, predict diseases, and control temperatures. Officials also discussed satellite-based digital crop surveys, highlighting Odisha’s proactive approach to modernizing agriculture.

Singhdeo emphasized that AI integration will simplify farming practices, reduce risks, and improve productivity. This initiative is aligned with Odisha’s larger vision of sustainable growth, allowing farmers to benefit from the latest technology.
