Odisha: Diesel smuggling racket busted in Paradip, 3,500 litres of fuel seized, one arrested

Odisha: Marine Police in Paradip, a major port city in Odisha, have uncovered a major deep-sea diesel smuggling network. In this operation, police seized approximately 3,500 liters of illegal diesel from a boat and arrested one person.
According to police, the operation took place in the waters near Paradip Port, where a Marine Police team intercepted a suspicious boat. During the investigation, a large quantity of diesel was recovered from the boat, which was illegally purchased from deep-sea vessels.
The Marine Police immediately seized the boat and examined the fuel, which revealed approximately 3,500 liters of diesel. Preliminary investigations revealed that the diesel was secretly purchased from ships and was being supplied illegally.
Police have arrested a person in this case, identified as Sunnapalli Nilaiah of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, the accused had been living in the Sandhakuda area of Paradip city for the past few days and was found involved in this illegal activity during this time.
Police officials say this may be an organized network involved in the illegal purchase and sale of fuel using the maritime route. The identities and roles of other individuals involved in this network are currently being investigated.
The Marine Police stated that the seized boat has also been taken into custody and is being preserved for further investigation. Efforts are also underway to identify the locations to which this illegal diesel was being supplied.
Following this action, security and surveillance have been tightened in the Paradip port area. Officials have stated that patrols will be increased to monitor illegal activities on the maritime routes.
Police believe that such activities are not only economic crimes but also pose a serious threat to maritime security. Therefore, a thorough investigation is being conducted into the matter to uncover the entire network.
The accused is currently being interrogated and the police hope that this investigation will lead to other people involved in this illegal business.
