Odisha begins special intensive revision of voter list, BLOs to conduct door-to-door verification

Odisha: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list is set to begin in Odisha on Saturday. As part of this campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will go door-to-door across the state to verify voters and distribute counting forms.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan told reporters on Friday that this door-to-door verification process will begin on May 30th and conclude on June 28th. During this period, BLOs will visit each voter’s home in the morning and provide them with counting forms. The completed forms will also be collected.
This special revision campaign will include voter personal information, family details, and information from the 2002 voter list. BLOs will verify these details on the spot, and any minor errors found will be corrected.
The Chief Electoral Officer has issued strict instructions to all BLOs (Bachelor of Local Bodies) to ensure that no eligible Indian citizen is excluded from the voter list and that no ineligible person is included in the list. He stated that the accuracy of the voter list is the cornerstone of the democratic process, and therefore, this task must be carried out with utmost seriousness and caution.
According to officials, this campaign will be conducted extensively across the state, covering all districts and polling areas. BLOs have been tasked with going door-to-door to contact people directly and assist them in filling out the forms, so that no voter faces any inconvenience.
During this process, it will also be ensured that no errors or incorrect information remain in the voter list. The Election Commission believes that this type of special revision will make the voter list more transparent and accurate.
After completion, this campaign will help make the final voter list more updated and error-free, ensuring a fair and smooth voting process in the upcoming elections.
