Odisha assembly resumes after a day’s break, ruckus expected over ASO job issue

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly resumed today after a day’s break. The ASO jobs issue expected to be raised again today leading to a possible ruckus in the House.

According to reports, the matter is likely to be raised during the Question Hour and the Zero Hour in the house. Similarly, there may be a heated discussion on the issue of the Waltair Division being a separate unit from the East Coast Railway.

Further the ruling party may also raise a number of important issues in the House today. An adjournment proposal might be made by the opposition party. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi is scheduled to present the annual report of the Directorate of Local Funds (DLFA) Review for 2023-24.

Recently on December 6, the Odisha Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2024 was passed in the state Assembly with the aim to curb cheating in each and every examination conducted by the State government.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi presented the Bill, which says the persons involved in such act shall be punished with imprisonment ranging three to five years and with fine up to 10 lakh rupees.

This apart, the service provider shall also be liable to be punished with imposition of a fine up to Rs 1 crore and proportionate cost of examination shall also be recovered from such service provider.
