New Delhi: Now Health Insurance is available in India even for people above 65 years of age.
Earlier, there was an age limit to purchase a health insurance. However, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has abolished the maximum age restriction.
Accordingly, now a person of any age group can purchase a health insurance. It is to be noted that earlier people only below the age group of 65 years were eligible to purchase a health insurance.
This new inclusion will pave the way to foster a more inclusive and accessible healthcare ecosystem, ensuring adequate protection against unforeseen medical expenses to people of any age group. The new amendment has allowed a person of any age group to purchase a health insurance. This became effective from April 1.
After this change, now more number of people can get health insurance which will provide them financial protection from unexpected medical expenses.
According to the IRDAI notification, insurers are allowed to offer premium payment in instalments for the convenience of policyholders.
