Not a single child should be deprived of going to school and should not fall prey to communicable diseases: Chief Minister

Lucknow (IANS)| Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that no child should be deprived of going to school and no child should fall prey to any communicable disease. This is the responsibility of all of us. Children have to be brought to school, their guardians have to be prepared so that we can make literacy 100 percent within the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was speaking on the occasion of the launch of School Chalo Abhiyan-2023 and Communicable Disease Control Campaign on Saturday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister provided free text books to the children of class one to eight. Along with this, report cards were also given to the students who passed in the proficient assessment. School Readiness and Teacher Guide was also released. Apart from this, Rani Laxmibai self-defense training program was also launched under Mission Shakti.

On the occasion of the beginning of the new academic session, CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh has been the focal point of education and health since ancient times. But due to not preparing itself according to the time, at one time Uttar Pradesh was being identified for anarchy, hooliganism, riots, corruption and disorder. The steps taken by the state government during the last 6 years, today its results are being seen in every field. We started the School Chalo campaign on 1st July 2017 in Kukrail. This program was a complete success. I am happy that the number of enrollment of children which was one crore 34 lakh in July 2017 has increased to 1.92 crore today.

Referring to the changes taking place in the field of education in the state, CM Yogi said that under Operation Kayakalp, public representatives, education department officials, administrative officers, police officers and former students together adopted one school each. In Operation Kayakalp, out of total 1.56 lakh schools, we have covered 1.36 lakh schools with basic facilities as well as smart classes and other facilities. The remaining 20,000 schools are left, which are being linked with these programs in this session. Now the Basic Education Council is adopting the syllabus of NCRT.

He said that with the beginning of the School Chalo Abhiyan, it becomes our responsibility that every teacher, every headmaster should hold a meeting with all the dignitaries of the ward or gram panchayat in which the school is located, and seek their cooperation. Have a meeting with the parents. It would be good to go door-to-door and screen each house. Study the Gram Panchayat. There are people living in different social and economic conditions. Create a database of them. The school should have the report card of its Gram Panchayat. If possible, the Basic Education Council should prepare a portal for this and take this database from each school. It will also be a case study for a teacher at the local level. From this you will decide how many children are going to school and how many are deprived. Those who are deprived of going to school, for what reasons are they deprived. It should be our endeavor to ensure that the Aadhaar authentication is done at the same time. All District Magistrates should ensure that they prepare a nodal officer who, along with BSA, will take this program forward in every development block and every gram panchayat.

On communicable diseases, CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh is a state of no climatic zone. Different diseases also occur in different areas. You will see that from Kushinagar, Gorakhpur to Terai of Nepal to Saharanpur, encephalitis used to swallow up thousands of children every year in this region. Children from one year to 15 years used to fall prey to it. There was an atmosphere of fear and panic in the minds of the people from July to November-December. Kala-azar used to spread in Varanasi and its surrounding areas. Malaria in Bareilly and surrounding areas, dengue havoc was seen till Lucknow-Kanpur-Mathura. Chikungunya was wreaking havoc in the region of Jhansi and Bundelkhand. The Health Department has run this program within the last 6 years, in which many departments participated. Communicable Disease Control was launched on April 1, 2018, exactly 5 years ago. Government of India and organizations like UNICEF, WHO contributed along with the departments of the state to take these programs to the masses. Today this model of Uttar Pradesh for communicable disease control has come in front of the whole country as a good result.

Regarding the simultaneous launch of Communicable Disease Control Program and School Chalo Abhiyan, CM Yogi said that most of the children used to fall prey to these diseases. That is why this program of School Chalo Abhiyan and Communicable Disease Control has been organized together. The biggest role in this is cleanliness and pure drinking water. The role of teachers is also important in this. Their job is not limited to teaching the syllabus in the school but also have to interact with the parents.
