Nizamabad: Around 77.49 per cent candidates appeared in the Group-1 preliminary examination conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) on Sunday. Out of 12,833 candidates who had applied for the examination from the district, 9945 candidates appeared for the examination and 2888 were absent. According to District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, the preliminary examinations were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere without any disturbance due to the elaborate arrangements made by the district administration. The District Collector visited several examination centres and enquired about the arrangements and procedures being followed by the officials.
Earlier, the question papers and other materials were transported from the strongrooms to the examination centres under tight police security and after the examination, the OMR sheets and other materials of the candidates were returned to the strongrooms after sealing them as per the rules. Section 144 was imposed at all the centres and Xerox centres were closed across the district. Help desks were set up for the candidates and flexies informing about the rules and regulations to be followed by the candidates were put up at the examination centres.
