Patna, (IANS) | Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss the current political situation with opposition leaders, met RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav at the official residence of his daughter and Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti. JDU National President Lalan Singh and Bihar Minister Sanjay Jha were also present in the meeting. Nitish Kumar is on a three-day visit to New Delhi to meet the country’s opposition leaders, including Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and others, and to chalk out plans for the Lok Sabha polls.
After the formation of the Grand Alliance government in Bihar, he had urged the top Congress leadership to take initiative in this matter as soon as possible.
Nitish Kumar himself claimed last week that he had a phone conversation with Kharge, who reportedly invited Nitish Kumar for a meeting to discuss the future course of action in Bihar.
Bihar is important for the Narendra Modi government as it has 40 Lok Sabha seats. Since there is no BJP government in the state, it will not be easy for him to succeed here.
The Bihar chief minister had also said that he would visit Delhi after the budget session of the state assembly, which concluded last week.
Nitish Kumar has been advocating opposition unity ever since forming the government in Bihar with the Grand Alliance. Nitish Kumar met Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, D. Raja, Sitaram Yechury and Akhilesh Yadav during his visit to Delhi in September last year, most of whom he is likely to meet this time as well .
