Raipur. The NHM employees’ strike in the state is entering its 33rd day, and a major update has emerged. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal made an important statement on the strike today. He stated that a high-level meeting with employee representatives yesterday resulted in an agreement to end the strike. The minister expressed hope that all employees will return to their duties today.
The minister also stated that high-level negotiations will be held to reinstate dismissed employees. Furthermore, no action will be taken against employees who have served a month’s notice if they return to work today. Four of the 10 major demands have been met, while a committee has been formed for three. High-level negotiations will continue on the remaining three demands. However, the health minister also acknowledged that the situation is concerning, as health services have been affected for a month.
The health minister stated that a review of the grade pay will be conducted in three months, and if it is in the best interest of employees, it will be implemented. The health minister warned that if employees do not return to work by this evening, a new recruitment process will be initiated. Meanwhile, the Health Department has issued an order dismissing hundreds of contract NHM employees. The employees were instructed to return to work by September 16th, but when they failed to return, the department took the drastic decision to terminate them.
