New Delhi: India has recorded 636 new cases of COVID-19, while the number of active cases of the infection has increased to 4,394, the Health Ministry said on Monday. Three new Covid deaths were reported in a 24-hour period, two in Kerala and one in Tamil Nadu, according to the ministry data updated at 8 am. The number of daily cases had fallen to double digits till December 5 last year, but cases have increased again after the emergence of a new variant and colder climatic conditions. According to the ministry’s website, the number of people who have recovered from the disease has crossed 44 lakh with a national recovery rate of 98.81 per cent.
