New weapon in Rafale, will destroy drones in the air itself

Paris. In view of the increasing threat from drones, France has equipped its Rafale fighter jets with new capabilities. France has included 68mm laser-guided rockets in Rafale aircraft, which will be capable of targeting and destroying enemy drones in the air. This step has been taken at a time when the use of small and low-cost drones is increasing rapidly around the world. Armies of many countries are now looking for such weapons instead of expensive air-to-air missiles, which can provide effective protection at low cost. Preparation to increase anti-drone capability France has named this plan ‘Lutte anti-drone sur avion de combat’ (Ladac). Its purpose is to provide the French Air and Space Force with an effective and affordable capability against drones from combat aircraft. According to the report, under this program, 68mm laser-guided rocket has been successfully added to Rafale. This technology has been specifically developed to deal with small and medium-sized drone threats. Affordable alternative to expensive missiles Usually, fighter planes use expensive air-to-air missiles to destroy enemy air targets. However, use of such missiles against small drones could prove to be very costly. In view of this problem, France has opted for low-cost laser-guided rockets. This weapon can help in targeting more number of drones at less cost. Information revealed in DGA report The integration was carried out in collaboration with the French Air and Space Force’s Center d’expertise aérien militaire (CEAM), reports France’s defense procurement agency DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement). Rafale manufacturer Dassault Aviation and defense technology company Thales also played an important role in this project. Big increase in Rafale’s capacity Rafale is already known for its cutting-edge combat capabilities. By adding new anti-drone capability to it, its role will be further strengthened. Through laser-guided rocket technology, pilots will be able to target enemy drones with more accuracy. This will be especially useful in situations where a large number of drones can attack simultaneously. Big step amid increasing drone threat The use of drones in war zones has increased rapidly in recent years. Due to their low cost and easy availability, small drones have now become a big challenge for the security forces. This step of France shows that in modern warfare, not only big weapons but also low-cost technology has become very important. The inclusion of new rocket systems in Rafale will give additional strength to the French Air Force to deal with drone threats.
