An insect called Scrub Typhus is causing panic among the people of AP. 1,317 people have been hospitalized due to the bite of this insect across the state. People are panicking as the disease is spreading in all districts. A woman from Vizianagaram area has died after falling ill due to the bite of Scrub Typhus.
A woman named Rajeshwari (36) from Mittapalli village, Cheepurupalli mandal, Vizianagaram district, who had been suffering from fever for some time, went to a private hospital and was diagnosed with scrub typhus. Her condition deteriorated while undergoing treatment at the hospital and she died.
Medical department officials revealed that 379 cases have been registered in Chittoor, 141 in Kakinada, 123 in Visakhapatnam, 94 in YSR Kadapa, 86 in Sri Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore, 68 in Anantapur, 64 in Tirupati, 59 in Vizianagaram, 42 in Kurnool, 41 in Anakapalle, 34 in Srikakulam, 32 in Annamaya, 31 in Guntur, and 30 in Nandyal.
Doctors advise that if this disease is diagnosed, it can be cured with simple antibiotics, and that people who feel unwell should not neglect to get tested.
