Noida : An elderly man died a tragic death after falling into an open roadside drain in the Mamura area of Sector-66, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The incident sparked outrage among locals, who questioned the poor infrastructure and administrative negligence in the area. Residents stated that several accidents have occurred previously due to open drains and a lack of adequate safety measures, yet no permanent solution has been implemented.
According to eyewitnesses, the elderly man lost his balance while walking along the roadside and fell into the drain. Bystanders attempted to pull him out and alerted the police and emergency services. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon examination.

As news of the accident spread, a large number of local residents gathered at the scene. They alleged that the roadside drains lack adequate safety barriers, railings, or covers. They pointed out that during the monsoon season, the drains fill with water, making it difficult to gauge their depth and significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Officials stated that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.
