Raipur. On Monday, the skies of Naya Raipur resounded with the roar of Indian Air Force fighter jets. These fighter jets will perform aerobatic displays on November 4th and 5th. Now, let’s tell you about the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and its fighter planes. Formed in 1996, the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team embodies the precision, courage, and technical prowess of the Indian Air Force.
Since its inception, the team has showcased India’s air power and discipline on numerous platforms both domestically and internationally. The Surya Kiran Team, Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic display team, is considered an example of the Indian Air Force’s technical prowess, discipline, and coordination. Their aircraft are so precise that sometimes the distance between the wings is less than 5 meters. This skill is what distinguishes India globally. To date, the Surya Kiran Team has performed over 700 displays in India and abroad.
This team has brought glory to India in countries like Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Thailand. The team has also given impressive performances at the Singapore Air Show, Dubai Air Show and the 88th anniversary of the Royal Thai Air Force. These performances have showcased India’s technological prowess and spirit of defence cooperation to the world. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was formed in 1996 and is one of the world’s unique nine-aircraft aerobatics teams, the only one of its kind in Asia. This unique team has performed over 500 displays in India.
