National Chess Championship for the Blind: Kishan Ganguly again won the title

Mumbai | Former champion Kishan Ganguly on Saturday won the title in the 16th AICFB National Chess Championship for the Blind. He has won this title for the seventh time in his career.

On the last day of the competition, Karnataka’s Kishan Ganguly scored 7.5 in nine rounds. He finished half a point ahead of Maharashtra’s Aryan Joshi and Odisha’s Soundarya Kumar Pradhan.

Ashwin Makwana (Gujarat) and Darpan Inani (Gujarat) finished joint fourth with 6.5 points each while Somendar BL (Delhi) finished sixth with six points.

The winners were given a cash prize of Rs one lakh and trophies by the All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB).

Four top players – Kishan Ganguly, Aryan Joshi, Soundarya Kumar Pradhan and Ashwin Makwana – will form the Indian team for the upcoming World Individual Chess Championship to be held in Greece in October.
