Nashik: Nanduri-Saptashringi Gad road reopened for traffic
Maharashtra: The work of installing landslide prevention nets on the rock side of Saptashrungi Gadh-Nanduri Ghat road, which was going on for four months under the Saptashrungi Gadh Vikas Yojana, has been completed and the route has been restored for traffic. There is a 10-km ghat route from Nanduri to reach Saptashrungi Fort. There have been several incidents of landslides and falling of big rocks on this ghat route, blocking the route. Due to this, vehicles of some devotees have also been damaged. Since the number of devotees visiting the fort is increasing every day, as a precaution, the Saptashrungi Devi Trust Board and the Gram Panchayat had approached the government to secure the route by installing rock protection nets along the ghat route.
Accordingly, the government had sanctioned Rs 33 crore for this work in the Saptashrungi Gadh Vikas Yojana. The work was started on September 23 under the aegis of the Public Works Department. After this, the work remained closed during Navratri, Diwali, Christmas and New Year. The road was closed for traffic from six in the morning to 11:30. Due to this, the number of devotees at Saptashrungi Fort had reduced to a great extent. Now the traffic has been restored after the completion of the work. After inspecting the entire ghat route, loose stones were removed from the mountain. Anti-crash iron nets were installed from the middle of the mountain to the edge of the road. So that if loose stones come down during monsoon or summer, they get stuck in the net or fall on the side of the road. This will not cause loss of life and property. The Public Works Department has said that this will make the journey of devotees safe.
