Names of eligible voters will not be deleted: Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer assures

Tamil Nadu: Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik stated that no eligible voter’s name will be removed during the special revision of the voter list.

Regarding this, she said at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday: In Tamil Nadu, 96 percent (61.6 million) of the population has been issued SIR calculation forms. Filled forms have been received from more than 50 percent of them. Steps are being taken to upload them in digital format. So far, 25.9 million forms have been uploaded.

A total of 83,256 people, including 68,470 polling station officers, have been deployed for the special revision of the voter list. 245,340 agents from political parties are assisting in this work.

No one needs to fear that their right to vote will be taken away. They can fill out and submit as many forms as they wish. Polling station officers and agents will assist them in filling in other details. Polling station officials have been provided with apps for this purpose.

No extra time: Calculation forms can be submitted until December 4th. After that, there is no expected extension. If the forms are completed and submitted, most people’s names will be included in the draft voter list. Calculation forms can also be submitted online until next Monday on the Election Commission’s website: http://srtnk.ngsreen.nj.ny. No eligible person’s name will be removed without valid reason. Only those who have died, are not at the given address, have not received the form, have permanently moved, and have dual voting rights will be removed.

If voters’ names are removed, the correct reason and reason will be indicated in the draft voter list to be published on December 9th.

Those who have moved within the same constituency can obtain the form from polling station officials and complete it. If they have moved to another constituency, they will need to submit Form 8 to change their address.

During the time the SIR calculation process was underway, 2,190 applications for new names were submitted.

The information that a single party (DMK) is dominating the SIR form distribution process and controlling officials is incorrect. All officials are working independently and performing their responsibilities and duties with full knowledge.

He stated that not many voters from outside the state are registered in Tamil Nadu. Only 869 people have registered to vote here.
