Nalgonda: Traffic jam up to 10 km on NH 65

Nalgonda: The traffic jam spread for more than 10 km from Choutuppal on National Highway 65 as people from Hyderabad left for their native places in Andhra Pradesh in private vehicles and buses ahead of the Sankranti festival. People stuck in the jam had to wait for hours and the movement of vehicles came to a complete halt. Some vehicles going from Hyderabad towards Vijayawada took a U-turn on NH 65 at Dharamojigudem to avoid the confusion, but the turn worsened the situation on both sides of NH 65. On the other hand, heavy traffic was seen at Panhangi and Korlapahar toll plazas on NH 65 as GMR authorities took special measures to avoid traffic jams. Apart from toll collection booths, toll plaza staff collected toll through portable machines on vehicles that did not have the FASTag solution. In view of the rush of vehicles, 10 out of total 14 toll seats were allotted for vehicles going towards Vijayawada from Hyderabad side. The police was trying to clear the jam at Choutuppal on NH 65.
