Second phase of Indore Metro priority corridor delayed again.

Madhya Pradesh: The inauguration of the second phase of the Indore Metro’s priority corridor has been postponed once again. However, amidst this delay, senior state officials conducted a detailed review of the project’s preparedness on Wednesday, reigniting discussions surrounding the metro project.
Sanjay Dubey, Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, inspected the Indore Metro project on Wednesday. During his visit, a comprehensive review of the project’s progress, the status of construction work, and overall preparedness was conducted. S. Krishna Chaitanya, Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), was also present during the inspection.
The officials visited construction sites, the elevated section, and various metro stations. Special attention was paid to technical aspects, safety standards, and construction quality. Instructions were issued to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with prescribed standards.
According to sources, following Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey’s visit, speculation has intensified that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might inaugurate this new section of the Indore Metro. Although no official announcement has been made yet, discussions regarding a potential inauguration have gained momentum.
The metro project is considered a significant step for the city’s public transport infrastructure. The commencement of the second phase is expected to improve the traffic system in Indore and provide modern amenities to commuters.
During the inspection, officials also reviewed pre-operational preparations. Particular focus was placed on aspects such as track inspection, the status of safety equipment, station facilities, and emergency arrangements.
It is reported that final-stage works across various sections of the project are being completed rapidly so that it can be opened to the public as soon as possible.
While the delay in inauguration has raised questions regarding the project’s timeline, officials maintain that there will be no compromise on safety and quality standards.
Thus, although the inauguration of the Indore Metro’s second phase is currently pending, preparations have reached the final stage, and it is expected to be opened to the public soon.
