Nainital: A girl went missing under suspicious circumstances on Friday evening in Tola village of Talla Bagad, located about 21 km from Nainital. The villagers said that the leopard had taken away the girl. The villagers along with the forest department searched for the girl in the forest till late night but could not locate her. The villagers have also claimed to have found the girl’s clothes and mobile cover in the forest.
Suman Mehra (22) daughter of Godhan Singh Mehra of the village was alone at home on Friday. His parents were busy with some work. It is being told that when her parents reached home at around 5.30 in the evening, Suman was not seen. Suman’s mother’s tension increased when she found a dog tied in the field at home. When she went to the field, she found Suman’s clothes, slippers and phone cover lying there. The villagers arrived after they raised noise. He said that Suman has been taken away by a leopard. After this the Forest Department was informed.
A search operation was conducted late night by a team of more than 50 employees and villagers under the leadership of Forest Range Officer Pramod Tiwari. The team kept searching in the forest with torches and villager burning torches but Suman could not be found. The villagers also claimed that footprints of a leopard or a tiger were visible in the field. Here, even Suman’s mobile could not be found. Mobile is about to switch off.
Forest Range Officer, Pramod Tiwari said that a search operation has been conducted in the area. There has been no sign of tiger or leopard being in the area. There was talk of leopard attack from the villagers. The girl is being searched.
