Naidu has planned relief in electricity tariffs, PPP projects, and the expansion of waterways.

Vijayawada: Soon after the conclusion of Thursday’s cabinet meeting, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held wide-ranging discussions with his council of ministers, focusing on political developments, recent issues and a comprehensive roadmap for development of Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister recalled that from the time the NDA coalition government had returned to power, the per-unit electricity tariff had been reduced from Rs.5.19 to Rs.4.90. He wanted this to be brought down to ₹4.80 by March 2026.

Further, Chandrababu Naidu set a target to reduce the tariff by Rs.1.19 per unit by 2029 through increased generation and reduced transmission losses. He pointed out that to ease the burden on power consumers, state government is itself bearing the burden of Rs.4,490 crore true-up charges imposed by the previous YSRC regime, so that consumers get power at a lower cost.

Naidu expressed satisfaction over AP featuring in the Forbes list of investments. He described it as a matter of pride, as it signals future growth. He asked ministers to effectively communicate advantages of such listings to the people.

Naidu emphasised on AP developing a world-class logistics ecosystem, so that it can compete at the global level. He called for greater use of inland waterways and improved water transport for Andhra Pradesh to stay ahead on the development path.

On coastal infrastructure, the CM reiterated the coalition government’s goal of establishing one port in every coastal district. He said port-led development enhances cargo movement and expands trade opportunities, which are essential to make Andhra Pradesh a strong logistics hub.

On Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, Naidu underlined that several state and central governments are successfully implementing it. He wanted Andhra Pradesh to further strengthen its own PPP framework, which is already being discussed at the national level.

The Chief Minister reiterated that surplus water flowing into the sea should be productively utilised by both the two Telugu states. With assured water availability, farmers could take up new crops, he stated.

Naidu maintained that completion of the Polavaram project will enable diversion of Krishna waters to Visakhapatnam. He directed officials to ensure close coordination, so that all projects are grounded without delay.

On agriculture, the CM called for greater awareness to be spread among farmers about shifting to alternative crops.
